As we approach the holiday season, keeping active can become more and more challenging. The simple change in daily schedule wreaks enough havoc, not to mention all the delicious foods that will parade past you.
At CrossFit to Serve, we believe in being fit in order to better our community. Fitness for fitness’s sake can make the holidays very stressful, so we are here to encourage you to stay active while enjoying family, friends, and the great holiday foods in order to always be ready to serve.
One of the best things you can do is watch what you eat. We know that this can be very stressful, especially when you have family and friends encouraging you to have another drink or another cookie. It is easy to find yourself between a rock and a hard place, trapped between the desire to enjoy and fear of losing your fitness level.
The key to the holidays is to abandon the all-or-nothing mindset. We all know that life is not that simple, and trying to force it to be just makes more stress. The thing is, you have the right to enjoy yourself just as you have the ability to help others. Your balance will not look like anyone else’s, so don’t be afraid to look for the unique balance of indulgence and work that makes you happy. Remember, the key is to remain able-bodied and ready serve. Keep your eye on the prize, and you will be much happier this season.
